Natural Remedies for Allergies
Seasonal allergies can be a significant nuisance, but there are several natural remedies that can help relieve your symptoms effectively. Among these, the use of medicinal plants such as nettle and chamomile have gained popularity due to their antihistamine and anti-inflammatory properties.
Nettle, scientifically known as Urtica dioica, has been traditionally used to treat various conditions, including allergies. This plant contains compounds that can inhibit the production of histamine in the body, a substance that plays a crucial role in the allergic response. A study published in the journal Planta Medica highlighted that nettle extract can significantly reduce the symptoms of allergic rhinitis, such as sneezing and itching, without causing serious side effects. In this regard, I have been taking these natural capsules because I precisely knew about the properties of nettle, and the truth is that they have worked great for me. I leave you my photo and here you also have the link where I bought it on Amazon:

On the other hand, chamomile, or Matricaria chamomilla, is known for its calming and anti-inflammatory effects. Consuming chamomile teas can help relieve nasal congestion and eye irritation, common symptoms during allergy season. Additionally, inhaling chamomile steam can provide immediate relief by decongesting the airways.
Apart from the capsules that I recommended above, I also tried 2 nasal sprays. The first one I tried was Pranarom, it’s really wonderful because it works well, the problem is that when I put it on, my nose stings and itches, because it’s very irritated from my rhinitis.
This is what I put here:

144 Sprays (Pack of 2) plus Bonus Pack of Tissues
Another effective natural technique is nasal cleansing, also known as nasal irrigation. This practice consists of rinsing the nasal passages with a saline solution, which can eliminate pollen and other allergens that accumulate on the mucous membranes. A study in the American Journal of Rhinology & Allergy showed that regular nasal irrigation can decrease the need for antihistamine medication in patients with allergic rhinitis.
These natural remedies are not only effective, but also offer a safe alternative for those looking to minimize the use of conventional medications. It is important to remember that although natural remedies can be beneficial, it is always advisable to consult with a health professional before starting any new treatment to ensure it is suitable for your specific needs.
Remedies for allergies: Diet Changes to Combat Allergies
Seasonal allergies can be particularly bothersome, but certain dietary changes can help mitigate your symptoms. Incorporating foods rich in antioxidants, anti-inflammatories, and probiotics can play a crucial role in reducing inflammation and strengthening the immune system.
Antioxidants are essential to combat free radicals that can aggravate allergic reactions. Foods like berries, spinach, and broccoli are excellent sources of natural antioxidants. Eating these foods regularly can help reduce oxidative stress in the body, which in turn can decrease the severity of allergic symptoms.
On the other hand, foods with anti-inflammatory properties are equally important. Consuming omega-3 fatty acids, found in fatty fish such as salmon, as well as chia seeds and walnuts, can reduce systemic inflammation. Spices like turmeric and ginger also have powerful anti-inflammatory effects and can be easily incorporated into various daily recipes.
Probiotics play a significant role in immune health. These beneficial microorganisms, present in fermented foods such as yogurt, kefir and sauerkraut, help maintain a healthy balance in the intestinal microbiota. A healthy gut is essential for a robust immune system, which can help reduce the allergic response. Here I leave you one of the best probiotics I have tried:
1MD Complete Probiotics Platinum | Supports Digestive Health
with Nourishing Prebiotics, 51 Billion Live CFU, 11 Strains, Dairy-Free | 30 Vegetable Capsules
Additionally, it is advisable to avoid foods that can potentially exacerbate allergies. Dairy products, for example, can increase mucus production in some people, worsening seasonal allergy symptoms. Likewise, reducing your consumption of processed foods and refined sugars can decrease inflammation and support overall immune system health.
Implementing these dietary changes can not only alleviate the symptoms of seasonal allergies, but also promote optimal overall health, providing a natural defense against allergic discomfort.
Alternative Therapies and Their Efficacy
In search of relief from seasonal allergies, many people turn to alternative therapies such as acupuncture, homeopathy, and aromatherapy. These practices have gained popularity due to their natural and holistic approaches to treating allergy symptoms, such as nasal congestion, sneezing, and itchy eyes.
Acupuncture, an ancient technique of traditional Chinese medicine, involves inserting fine needles into specific points on the body to balance the flow of energy. Some studies suggest that acupuncture can reduce inflammation and relieve symptoms of seasonal allergies. Although scientific evidence is still limited, many patients report significant improvements after several sessions.
Homeopathy is another popular option. Based on the principle of «like cures like», homeopathy uses highly diluted substances to stimulate the body’s healing ability. Various studies have explored the effectiveness of homeopathic remedies in treating allergies, with mixed results. Although some patients experience relief, others do not notice significant changes. Therefore, it is essential to consult a qualified professional to determine if this therapy is right for you.
Aromatherapy, which uses essential oils derived from plants, has also been proposed as an option to relieve the symptoms of seasonal allergies. Oils such as eucalyptus, lavender and peppermint can help decongest the airways and calm irritation. However, it is important to use these oils with caution and under the supervision of a professional, as they may cause adverse reactions in some people.
For those interested in exploring these alternative therapies, it is crucial to find a qualified and experienced professional. Research credentials and patient reviews before making a decision. Also, always consult your doctor before starting any alternative treatment to make sure it is safe and appropriate for your specific situation.

Remedies for allergies: Practical Tips to Avoid Allergy Triggers
Exposure to seasonal allergens can be significantly reduced by implementing certain habits and practical measures at home and in daily life. Maintaining an allergen-free environment is essential to minimizing allergy symptoms.
First of all, it is essential to keep your home clean and free of dust. Regular cleaning, including vacuuming carpets and furniture with HEPA filters, can reduce the presence of dust mites and other common allergens. Additionally, washing bedding and curtains frequently in hot water helps eliminate accumulated allergens.
The use of air purifiers is another effective strategy. Purifiers with HEPA filters can capture fine particles, such as pollen and mold, improving indoor air quality. It is also advisable to keep the windows closed during high pollen seasons and use the air conditioning with clean filters to keep the air fresh and free of allergens.
Personal hygiene also plays a crucial role. Showering and changing clothes after spending time outdoors can prevent the transfer of pollen and other allergens indoors. Additionally, frequently washing your hands and face helps remove irritating particles that can cause allergic reactions.
Planning outdoor activities safely during allergy season is equally important. Checking pollen concentration reports and planning activities during times of low exposure can significantly reduce symptoms. Opting for outdoor activities after rain, when pollen levels are typically lower, is a good practice.
Implementing these practical tips can help minimize exposure to seasonal allergy triggers, thereby improving the quality of life for those who suffer from these discomforts. The combination of a clean environment, the use of air purifiers, good personal hygiene, and careful planning of outdoor activities are key steps to effectively manage seasonal allergies.
